Soroptimist Club honored for 2 decades of anti-trafficking work

Soroptimist International of Vista and North County Inland with Proclamation from County Supervisor Jim Desmond s office L-R Soroptimists Jennifer Luz-Olson Susan Roncone Kaye Van Nevel Sherry Luz Nelly Jarrous Allison Temples Runa Gunnars and Donna DiBella Photo by Alyssa Formolo Photo courtesy of Soroptimist International of Vista and North County Inland On July Soroptimist International of Vista and North County Inland received a special proclamation from the office of San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond recognizing the organization s long-standing efforts to combat human trafficking The honor comes ahead of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July Club members gathered at the Vista Courthouse to accept the proclamation from Alyssa Formolo Supervisor Desmond s Guidelines Advisor and Public Liaison For the past years the local Soroptimist chapter has led grassroots efforts to raise awareness and pursue solutions to human trafficking in North County The group organizes an annual Human Trafficking Awareness Walk each January in Vista and hosts North County Anti-Human Trafficking Collaborative meetings that bring together neighborhood partners helpers and guest speakers to share insights and strategies The next Collaborative meeting is scheduled for Oct and the th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness Walk will take place on Jan Soroptimist International is a global volunteer organization of women dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through community-based and international programs For more information visit www soroptimistvista org or contact Allison Temples at allison yahoo com
